On the Threshold of Time

A portal connects points in time.
Was I was inspired by Marie Kondo videos or did planetary aspects motivate me? Mountains of boxes cluttering the guest room closet pushed me over the edge. I reached the point of zero tolerance and pulled out the first box.
A box of memories filled with pictures, letters, cards, books, small mementos. More boxes. A keychain from a trip to the Big Apple. My oldest daughter’s Big Bird toy. Happy Mother’s Day drawings. Souvenirs and tickets from foreign countries. Trash. Recycling. Books. Journals.
Each memento was a portal to another time, a different lived experience, sometimes forgotten or laid aside. Momentum accelerated (perhaps a bit of frenzy occurred) until four closets and two rooms were decluttered and reorganized in epic fashion. It was exhausting, rewarding and ultimately liberating.
A friend shared a bit of wisdom yesterday, “Look around, where you are, there you are!” Here I am indeed. And what a place it is to be. Soon I’ll be officially married half of my life. In an interesting game of numbers, I’ll be 66 in April and married for 33 years. I don’t know why this amuses me but it does. I never imagined living in Wyoming, either. But here I am. Renewed.
And, I have this website, a creative evolution, a portal of time and space where you can peek in and see me. A me produced by an electronic keyboard, a twinkling amalgam of thoughts and photons.
When you read this I won’t be here in this space any more.
Loran,
Very nice to read your words and try to think back on the good times we had in previous lives. I’m so glad to hear/read how happy and content you appear to be.
Love you girlfriend!
Thanks, Karen! It’s been a long time but I haven’t forgotten the good times we had together. I had to work at learning how to be content. It didn’t come naturally.
Love you!
Loran, I absolutely LOVE the image that goes with your words. I feel as though I’m entering a portal: one into (is it?) your physical space, and secondly, into your inner thought chamber via your beautiful musings. I appreciate and am nurtured by writing like this that allows me to hold a mirror to my own life as a portal to self-discovery and reflection. Thank you! for being YOU!
Thanks so much, Debra, for being you!
