dancing in the still point on the spiral journey of life

Why I call myself the Queen of Wanderlust

Age 3, Colosseum, Rome

In 1956, my parents traveled with 13 pieces of luggage, me and my little sister through Europe.  We were on our way to Karachi, Pakistan where my dad was stationed in the Air Force.

Even though I don’t remember this trip, I was instilled with a sense of adventure and a love of travel.  I have been to many exotic and fascinating places.

Here’s are some of favorite memories in no particular order:

*Watching a scarlet macaw fly across the sky in Costa Rica

*Riding an elephant on safari in Nepal and seeing a tiger in the wild

*Dazzling pink sand beaches in Bermuda

*Feeling the Tasman Sea waves crashing on Pancake Rocks in New Zealand

*Snorkeling in Tahiti with beautiful rainbow-colored fish

*Sitting in an olive tree in Spain feeling the wind blow

*Discovering tile mandalas everywhere in Morocco

*Eating a perfect strawberry on a street corner in New Orleans

*Taking a wrong turn in Yellowstone Park and ending up in Montana instead of Idaho

*Experiencing real wilderness packing with llamas into the Wind River Mountains

*Village girls singing welcome songs in Nabji, Bhutan in three languages

Not all those who wander are lost. ~ J.R.R. Tolkein
