dancing in the still point on the spiral journey of life

Honk It Through!

Come, come, whoever you are.

Wanderer, worshipper, lover of living, it doesn’t matter.

Ours is not a caravan of despair.

Come even if you have broken your vow a thousand times.

Come, yet again, come, come. ~ Rumi

Rumi was a 13th century Muslim poet, theologian and mystic. I don’t know if you are familiar with Rumi but he was a really wise man. Very popular in the U.S. now, there is even a Facebook feed of Rumi quotes.  What I love about this particular quote is the encouragement it contains; even if you have broken your vow a thousand time, don’t despair, don’t give up.

In stark juxtaposition to the ancient wisdom of Rumi, is our electronic age.  I have an iPad that does a lot of auto-correcting all by itself.  I don’t remember exactly what I was trying to say at the time, but “honk it through” came out when I was trying to encourage someone else.  It’s kind of a catchy little phrase.

What does it take to persist or persevere when things are changing around you or you are trying to change things within you?  How easy is it to despair?  What keeps you motivated?  Rumi’s quote inspires me to keep taking the next right step.

I like to encourage others and I like it when others encourage me.  I love that social networking has created a new way of forging bonds with like-minded people. It’s wonderful to give and receive support from all over the world.

In the meantime, whatever you’re doing, honk it through!

Oh I love this! Honk it through! And you got that accidentally from your iPad, I love that. kinda like techno-divination! ;+)

And the Rumi quote – “Ours is not a carnival of despair”.

I want to say that all day every day.

And *ahem* dedicate it to all those people on my facebook page who can seemingly think of nothing but Newt Gingrich.

I think I will post this there for them, right now!

Oops I meant caravan. That too. :+)

Ours is not a carnival, caravan, yardsale, or corner store of despair.

Hahaha, I kind of like carnival of despair! especially in reference to Newt.

    Yeah, techno-divination, cool.

Seems like “try, try again” works for me. Honk it through!

PS: you can probably turn off the auto correcting.

  6. Loran Hills on January 31, 2012 at 7:57 pm

Gaelyn I can turn off the auto-correct, but then I lose my techno-divination!

How funny! BUT, what a wonderful meaning you gave it. I’m “honking through” every single day. What a blessing!

I love that quote by Rumni Loran, it’s just what I needed to hear this week! (Ok this month!) – no this minute .. . LOL

Now with your truck image and slogan “Honk it through” I have an extra motivational cheerleading image to call to mind for those times when I am feeling in a funk. Of course perhaps I should picture the truck being driven by a turtle for consistency. 🙂

Heehee! I dig “honk it through” – it’s a very headology-esque way of approaching an issue. You’ve got to keep going, even if it’s hard and/or scary!

    Honkhonk!

“honk it through” I love it! What helps me to persevere? Friends. More than anything having the support of people I love, admire and respect. Friends who will reflect back to me my success and my light. Friends are the biggest motivator in my life by far (that and my ridiculously incredible drive to grow).

Ahhhhhh… so *this* is where the “Honk it through” I saw the other day came from 😀 – it all makes so much more sense now!

Love the technomancy, Loran – and I think I might need to read more of Rumi’s work.

    Blessings – TANJA
